Kathryn Cernauskas

Educator

Kathryn Cernauskas was the flute teacher at Douglas College from 1982 until she retired in 2008. During that time she also taught theory and ear training and was Coordinator of the Music Department for several years. She was also a flute instructor at Capilano College, the Johannesen International School of the Arts and the Courtenay Youth Music Centre. She has adjudicated for many music festivals and was a consultant for the flute repertoire books to be published by the Frederick Harris Music Publishing Company in conjunction with the next Royal Conservatory flute syllabus.

    Kathryn Cernauskas

    Flutist Kathryn Cernauskas has made Canadian music a focus of her performing, publishing and recording activities. Her work as a champion of Canadian music includes premiere performances of more than 100 Canadian compositions, a solo CD of Canadian music for flute and publications of Canadian music. While maintaining an active career as a performer, teacher and adjudicator, Kathryn Cernauskas has also been Coordinator of Music at Douglas College and Chair of the Canadian Music Centre, BC region.
